7 confirmed death in

The Jigawa canoe mishap that occurred on Sunday in the Dabi hamlet of the Ringim Local Government Area has now been confirmed to have resulted in seven fatalities, according to the Police Command in Jigawa State.

After colliding with an obstruction, a canoe that was carrying 13 people and was on its way to a visit of condolence turned over and overturned as a result of the incident.

After getting the report, the police immediately began a search and rescue operation at the spot, and they enlisted the support of local divers who were in the vicinity.

According to the police, the mission resulted in the recovery of seven people on the spot. These individuals were immediately transported to the General Hospital in Ringim for medical attention.


Jigawa Canoe Mishap

A medical expert who was on duty confirmed the deaths of two of the seven inhabitants who were found; their names are Bara’atu Garba, age 30, and Mahmud Surajo, age 3.

The five people who were still alive after the attack were taken to the hospital, while the other six victims are still missing….

In a statement that was released in Dutse on Monday, the command’s spokeswoman, DSP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the recovery of five additional bodies, bringing the total number of persons who lost their lives as a result of the tragedy to seven.

There were six people reported missing after a canoe mishap that occurred yesterday in Ringim Local Government Area. According to the report, five more bodies were recovered, but one person is still missing.

Shiisu further mentioned that efforts to find the last remaining person were being stepped up at this time.


At least five individuals were reported killed after a boat accident that occurred on Tuesday at Martaba village in the Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.


The Miga Local Government Area (LGA) reported yet another boating tragedy on the 30th of August, which resulted in the deaths of two people.
