Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), said one centre was delisted from participating in the 2022 UTME examination due to a system failure, just as 175,000 candidates sat for the mock exam.
Oloyede said the examination was conducted admirably and satisfactorily in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday.
For allegedly violating the requirement for the conduct of an effective examination, the registrar identified the centre as Brain Point Computer-Based Centre (CBT) at Oko-Oba in Lagos.
“In Lagos and Ogun, I conducted sample inspections. The turnout was fantastic, and we were pleased with the quality of the performance.
“As a result of the process, a centre, Brain Point CBT in Oko-Oba, Lagos State, that was unable to maintain its generator set was automatically delisted.”
He said, “I have given an instruction that the candidates in this be refunded their entire fee.”
Oloyede added that CBT centres were now allowed to collect up to N1,000 from candidates instead of the previous N700, and that they had to give it their all during the exam.
“The mock examination is just a test,” he added. “Students should read so that they have everything they need to pass their examination.”
According to Oloyede, the 175,000 candidates who took the mock exam were limited to only one session, which began between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
