The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday approved 140 and above as the national minimum cut-off mark for admission into public universities in 2022
At the current Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria, JAMB made their decision.
What is JAMB cut off mark for 2022 admission in Polytechnics ?
As a minimal requirement for admission to polytechnics and colleges of education, the board also approved 100.
Every institution has the right to set its own cut-off mark, even up to 220, but no one will be allowed to score less than the agreed-upon minimum marks of 100 for colleges of education, 100 for polytechnics, and 140 for universities, according to Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar, who made the cut-off announcement.

He further disclosed that 378,639 out of the 1,761,338 candidates who took the UTME in 2022 received scores of 200 or higher.
The meeting is being presided over by Adamu Adamu, the minister of education.
Mr. Adamu stated in his inaugural remarks to Nigerian tertiary institutions, that all admissions to the public universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education must be processed through the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).
The minister stated that even if the violations are discovered after the heads of the institutions have left their positions, they will still be prosecuted.
What does the board have to say about the “JAMB cut off mark for 2022”?
“Every school is at liberty to establish the minimum UTME score acceptable to it for admission,” was the resolution that was adopted during the conference. As with regular admissions, each institution will decide how many points are necessary for direct entry admission. However, no institution may propose or approve any applicant for direct admittance who has fewer than two points.

Additionally, the conference decided that “no institution would be permitted to suggest or admit any candidate whose total score is below the minimal score set by the institution and authorised by the Policy Meeting. When computing the percentage-minimum score, the sum of all scores used to rank the candidate must be taken into consideration.
