Manchester City are close to agreeing a £100 million deal to sign Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.
City made their £100 million offer on Friday, and Villa are reportedly willing to let Jack Grealish join the Premier League champions.
He must now decide whether or not he wants to leave his boyhood club in the most significant transfer in English football history.
Paul Pogba, who re-joined Manchester United for £93.25 million from Juventus in 2016, held the previous record.
Despite signing a five-year contract last September, Villa offered Grealish a new and improved contract earlier this summer.
Jack Grealish is a product of the Villa youth system, having made over 200 appearances for the club and scoring 32 goals.
Once Grealish’s move to City is completed, Villa are expected to make their interest in Norwich City attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell official.
Although no official contact has been made, Norwich is aware of Villa’s interest.
Norwich do not want to lose Cantwell with less than two weeks until the start of the season, and it would take a significant offer to convince them to let him go.
After negotiating the sale of Emiliano Buendia in June, Norwich have a good relationship with Villa.
Cantwell’s contract is coming to an end, but Norwich has the option to extend it for another year.
