IPOB Plotting To Attack Lagos – Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, has warned Lagosians of a planned attack by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on soft targets in the state.
The threat posed by IPOB has been put on the radar of the Command intelligence gathering and other security services in the State, according to Odumosu, who delivered a paper on ‘Appraisal of Security Situation in Lagos State’ at an ongoing security conference.
The Commissioner also stated that the Command has taken note of threats made by Oodua Republic agitators and other Yoruba separatist parties.

He went on to say that tactics were being developed to counteract their activities.
As a result, he urged everyone to be alert at all times and to report any suspicious people or movements to security agencies.

“Let us follow the expression, ‘when you see something, say something,’” he suggested.
According to the CP, another major security problem facing the command is the use of motorcycles as a mode of transportation in the state.
“The introduction of motorcycles as a mode of intra-city transportation in Lagos State can be attributed to a number of factors.
“First and foremost among these is the government’s desire to expand the land transportation system and create job opportunities for people.

“The government’s good intentions of providing additional modes of land transportation and generating employment for the state’s teeming unemployed youths have been thwarted by the atrocities committed by Okada operators. This includes hoodlums using Okada as a means to commit crime and get away with it; disregard for traffic laws and regulations; and Okada drivers being a nuisance and careless on our highways, resulting in avoidable accidents with attendant human life consequences,” he added.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, security chiefs, and members of the public were in attendance.
