Prof. Placid Njoku, the Deputy Governor of Imo, has disputed allegations that he has resigned, calling them false.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ozioma Ukwuoma reiterated that the reports are false and attributed them to those attempting to destabilise the state.
“My attention has been called to the fake news circulating on social media stating that His Excellency Prof Placid Njoku, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, has resigned,” the statement reads in part.
“While it is still our policy to ignore such false reports, the need to inform concerned Imo citizens has forced this response.
“This report is a fiction of the imaginations of those working against the government and people of Imo state, and has no iota of truth.”
“His Excellency Prof. Placid Njoku, Imo State Deputy Governor, has a strong working relationship with his employer, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Imo State Executive Governor, as well as every member of the state executive council, including members of the state legislature.”
He urged Imo residents to ignore erroneous rumours and continue to support the state’s peace and development.
