I’m not going to resign
Abubakar Malami (SAN), the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has stated that he will not resign from his position, stating that he will serve till May 2023.
He gave the keynote presentation at a conference organised by the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents on Thursday in Abuja.
The AGF denied media allegations (not by The PUNCH) that he had resigned from office, while urging journalists to report accurately.
The minister of justice also called for the prosecution of journalists who have been utilised by shady politicians.
“It is past time for us to improve media literacy so that Nigerians can appreciate fact-checking and information verification,” Malami remarked.
“Many who relied on some unprofessional information disseminators will be surprised to learn that Malami, who was said to have resigned as Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, was still seen in office yesterday, attending the Federal Executive Council meeting, giving interviews to journalists, and declaring this conference open as the Attorney General of the Federation today.”
“Everything, of course, has an end.” My term in office hasn’t ended yet. I want for a great conclusion.”
