This development is coming after the Senate President revealed a plot allegedly being spearheaded by the IGP to frame him with some cultists. The Senate then resolved to debate on the matter.
The Deputy Leader, Bala Ibn Na-Allah moved a motion that Saraki should step down for the debate on the matter. It was seconded by Olusola Adeyeye (APC, Osun) and the prayer was carried.
Saraki swapped seat with the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu (PDP, Enugu), for the first time since he emerged as the Senate president in June 2015.
While leaving his seat, Saraki said: “DSP come and do the job”.
Contributing, Senator Kabiru Marafa (APC,Zamfara) suggested that a committee be raised to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the matter.
It was seconded by the minority leader, Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP, Taraba) who narrated how his policemen were withdrawn while travelling to Jos over his remark on the IGP. He said Buhari should be told that Democracy is collapsing under him.
The Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) said the meeting with the president would enable them to discuss the issue and others with the president.
“Let me say that some people could be taking advantage at certain points to do certain things that Mr President would have no idea. Therefore, it’s an opportunity for our delegation to meet Mr President to explain everything,” he said.
