The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has strongly condemned the serious assault on a police officer by Seun Kuti, a popular Nigerian musician and son of the legendary Fela Kuti.

The IGP has ordered the immediate arrest of Seun Kuti and has vowed to bring him to justice.

The assault on the police officer is a reminder of the need for respect for law and order and for all citizens to uphold the rule of law. The police will continue to perform their duties to protect the lives and property of all Nigerians and maintain peace and order in the country.

The statement reads:

SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: IGP CONDEMNS ACT, ORDERS IMMEDIATE ARREST OF SEUN KUTI

 

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to arrest Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
