Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, a controversial Islamic cleric, has stated why he would support Peter Obi for president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023, Ejesgist.com reports.
Gumi promised Obi his support if he could reform Nigeria and win the presidency in 2023.
He remarked yesterday in Kaduna while hosting the former governor of Anambra State and Datti Baba-Ahmed, who was Baba-running Ahmed’s mate.
In preparation for the general elections in 2023, a joint committee of Arewa groups organized an interactive session for presidential candidates in Kaduna. Obi and his running mate were there.
Gumi, however, praised Obi for coming and updating him on his strategy for Nigeria.
Gumi asserts: “People in Kaduna will be interested in hearing your opinions on how Nigeria should be restructured; Nigeria has been doing so ever since independence.
It was never static, but I am curious in opinions on restructuring so I can post on my Facebook page, “This is the presidential candidate who can do this for me; I will assure him of my vote,” that “this is the candidate who can do this for me.”
Gumi also questioned the Labour Part presidential candidate about his plans for dealing with the nation’s agitation and poverty problems.
“How will you handle the polarisation and agitations in Nigeria? How are you going to make these people (agitators) comfortable under one table when every region is agitating because people are unhappy?
“You spoke more about the economy; sometimes, the economy is more than the numbers,” he continued.
However, The Labour Party (LP) Candidate for President didn’t leave any stone unturned as he swiftly answered him, giving him the best methods for quelling raging agitations in the country.
