After a hot chase, the abductors were forced to abandon the hostages, and the victims were reunited with their families, he said.

“When the combined team received the intel, they launched an attack on the bandits, forcing them to abandon the majority of the hostages while fleeing with an unknown number.

“The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, and attempts to rescue the remaining victims are underway in coordination with neighbouring military establishments, including those of the Niger Republic,” Yerima said.

The bandits were overwhelmed as a result of the combined team’s efforts, according to Yerima’s comment.

“They were confronted with overwhelming firepower from a joint team made up of soldiers and police officers who had been tactically mobilised in the town after receiving intelligence on the intended assault.
