The driver of the vehicle lost control before colliding with an undetermined number of students.

In a telephone interview the state’s Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, confirmed the incident.

Although he claimed that two students had been killed and others had been injured so far, eyewitnesses at the scene gave contradictory accounts.

While some sources claimed that 13 students were believed to have died, others claimed that 17 students had died.

They were said to have been crushed as they waited to cross the road to the other side.
