According to reports, an Air Force plane bombed an armoured tank carrying troops, killing all of them.

The soldiers from Ngandu village were said to be on their way to Mainok, a town under attack by terrorists from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), a breakaway group of Boko Haram formerly known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd.

Terrorists targeted a Nigerian Army post at 156 Battalion in the community on Sunday, killing more than 30 soldiers.

The military base was also burned down by the terrorists, who arrived in 15 gun trucks.

According to a source, a Nigerian Army reinforcement team sent to the community was mistakenly bombed by an Air Force fighter jet.

TheNigerian Army was pinned down, so they needed reinforcements, who arrived only to be smoked by the Nigerian Airforce,” a source told the online publication.

“An airstrike killed the (reinforcement team) who were on their way from Ngandu. The Air Force mistook them for Boko Haram because they were both dressed in military uniforms and driving similar vehicles.”

Villagers in North Eastern Nigeria have previously confirmed civilian casualties as a result of almost regular bombardments.

A military jet responding to a Boko Haram attack recently dropped a bomb in a compound where civilians were conducting a naming ceremony.
