How My Father’s Friend R*ped Me And Filmed The Act – Victim Tells Her Horrifying Story In Lagos

Blessing claimed that things were complicated for her family after her father lost his sight and left the church’s employ around five years ago, and Odih offered to support the family on occasion.

Mr Onuoha Odih, an alleged rapist, has been detained in Lagos.

He was nabbed by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly r*ping a 25-year-old woman, Blessing (pseudonym) (pseudonym).

The victim told City Round that the perpetrator was her father’s friend and colleague when they both worked as security guards at a prominent church located in the Ijesa region of Lagos State. She said despite her pleas, he raped her and boasted that nothing would happen to him because he would bribe the police and be freed.

“I tried to resist him but he pulled out a knife and threatened to kill me,” she said.

Blessing claimed that things were complicated for her family after her father lost his sight and left the church’s employ around five years ago, and Odih offered to support the family on occasion.

The survivor, who works as a point of sale terminal attendant in the Ijesa area of the state, said, “He and my dad used to work for the church as security guards before he started working for the church as an informant. My father lost his sight about five years ago, so he stopped working and had to be sitting at home, so things were tough. He used to send money to my dad occasionally.”

On the day the incident occurred, Blessing said she had returned from work about 9pm when her father asked her to go and collect the money the perpetrator, also known as ‘king of boys,’ promised him.

“When I got there, he transferred N10,000 to me,” she explained. He advised me to send my father N5,000 and hold the remaining N5,000. I thanked him and as I was about leaving, he said I would have to appreciate him in kind. He wanted me to ‘sleep’ (have sex) with him and I said no.

“I asked if he was making such a demand because of the N5,000 he gave me, and I told him to give me his account number. He did, and I immediately returned his funds to him. I’ve got the proof.”

“As soon as he got the money, he pulled out a knife, locked the doors, and demanded that I undress.”

The incident, she says, occurred on a vacant plot of land on Alakoso Road in Ijesa. She claimed the property had high perimeter fencing and a wide gate, which he claimed was locked with a padlock, and that no one came to her rescue even though she screamed.

“I rushed towards the vacant land’s gate, trying to push it open, but he chased me down and pulled me down. I couldn’t get away because the fence was too high. I screamed and yelled for help, but he said no one would respond. On the grounds, he stayed in a small security home.

“I refused to take off my clothes and fled back to the gate, but he charged at me and threatened to stab me. I didn’t want to risk my life because his eyes were red. I asked him to open the gate when he was done, but he declined. He announced that he would return for another round. I was terrified and continued to yell, but no one responded.

“Then he pulled out his knife again, and I had to go through the ordeal a second time. I yelled, but no one responded. He said he’d kill me and bury me there with no one knowing. He boasted that he would pay me money to go to the FESTAC police station, but that nothing would happen to him because he knew how to bribe the cops.”

She claimed that after Odih fell asleep for a while, she was able to retrieve the key and flee around 3 a.m.

Unbeknownst to Blessing, he used his phone to film the act with the aid of the flash, which she mistook for a regular torch.

She told City Round that she cried all night and could only tell her brother what she was going through. “I didn’t tell my father about it for two days because I knew it would break him, and it did.”

She said she reported the case to the Ago Police Station and told Mrs Favour Benson, the founder of Jashabel Touch-A-Heart Foundation, a human rights group, who had been tracking the case.

Police arrested Odih, searched his phone, and discovered about 20 videos of him having sex with various women, including her, according to Blessing.

She stated that the case had been referred to the Panti State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“I want justice,” she stated. I’ve been getting phone calls from unknown people telling me to drop the case and threatening me.”

She said the findings of the test she took at the Mirabel Centre in Ikeja were already with the Panti police, and that she hoped justice would be done. She went on to say, “I haven’t been able to delete the incident from my memory.”

Samuel Apologun, the lawyer appointed by a non-governmental organisation, Project Alert, to handle the case on Blessing’s behalf, told our correspondent that he was working on the case.

CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, confirmed the report, saying, “The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday.”
