If elected president of Nigeria in 2023 by the Labour Party, Peter Obi has stated that he won’t have any issues passing legislation.

The Labour Party does not represent a significant political force in Nigerian elections.

Additionally, given that the nation is a federal republic with a constitution that establishes a separation and balance of powers among the three branches of government, some political analysts predict that it will be difficult for a ruling party other than the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pass laws.

“This is not the first time I’ve had this experience. When I was governor of Anambra State, my party had zero representatives in the house (All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA).Obi stated in an interview with Newsmen that 30 members of the house belonged to a different party.

Nobody from the local or senatorial governments belonged to the same party.

Obi was a PDP member before joining the Labour Party in May. The PDP is the main opposition group in Nigeria.

He was a Vice-Presidential candidate for the party (in the 2019 general elections).
