Precious Chikwendu, a former beauty queen and the ex-wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, the former Minister of Aviation, has accused him of abusing her on several occasions, including while she was pregnant.

Chikwendu made the allegations in an affidavit she deposed to in support of an originating motion filed in the FCT High Court, Abuja, under Section 69 of the Child’s Rights Act, 2003.
The mother of four boys claimed in court papers that she met Fani-Kayode in 2014 at the height of her career and fell in love with him.
The respondent (Fani-Kayode) has lived a life that has shown complete disregard for my feelings since the beginning of our relationship. The way and manner in which the respondent assaulted me while I was pregnant with our first son demonstrated this.
Over a petty argument, the respondent (Fani-Kayode) kicked me on the stomach several times. Vanessa, a friend of mine who was present at the time, intervened in the nick of time to save me.
After this incident, I had to leave the respondent’s (Fani- Kayode’s) house. When I was pregnant with triplets, the respondent (Fani-Kayode) did the same thing, but this time my mother and sister, Faith, intervened,” she said.
The former beauty queen claimed that the former Minister conspired with a former Asokoro Police Station Divisional Police Officer to drug her on one occasion.
However, she claimed that things between them quickly deteriorated as Fani-Kayode began to exhibit paranoid symptoms. She claimed that the former minister accused her of infidelity and locked her out of their home on Aso Drive in Asokoro, Abuja on several occasions.
“During one of my attempts to leave the house with the children in 2018, the respondent (Fani-Kayode) and her team of policemen handcuffed me and stripped me naked, while someone from the crowd, whom I initially mistook for a policeman, forcefully injected me with sedation.
That I was then kidnapped and held captive in a hospital for two weeks. At the time, I was separated from my six-month-old triplets and one-year-old son,” she explained.
Chikwendu asked the court to compel Fani-Kayode to pay her N3.5 million per month for the upkeep of their four sons, claiming that the ex-minister had denied her access to her children for several months.
She claims the former Minister spends N1.8 million per month on food, toiletries, and other necessities for the four children, while N575,000 is spent on clothing. Fani-Kayode, she claimed, had continued to deny her access to the children in an attempt to force her back into the marriage.
Chikwendu is requesting a court order “granting the applicant custody of the four children with reasonable access to the respondent.”
In a response filed by his lawyer, Oluwafemi Popoola, FFK claimed that he had not been properly served with court papers and thus could not respond appropriately.
Part of the response is as follows:
“This honourable court will lack jurisdiction to conduct further proceedings unless the originating processes filed in this case are served or properly served on the respondent/applicant.”
