On Monday night, people suspected of being hoodlums set ablaze the house of Seriki Fulani in Eggua, Ogun State’s Yewa North local government area, Alhaji Adamu Oloru, killing one person and scores of cows.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident when speaking about the development, saying the mob took advantage of the Igboho visit to launch the attack.

He also said police commissioner Edward Ajogun had visited the area for an on-the-spot evaluation.

He (CP) had a meeting with the community and Fulani settlers, Oyeyemi said. We had a very robust session, and the two sides decided to work together to detect those perpetrating crime in it.

The CP has appealed to everyone, including Sunday Adeyemo, that it is impossible for us to fight crime illegally.

“He should allow justice to prevail and everybody to calm down pending when the whole issue will be resolved. However, everybody has agreed to work together. I think it is only in Eggua where maybe aggrieved people before his arrival took the opportunity to vent their anger. So, we have appealed to him to tread softly. Peace has finally returned,” said the PPRO.

It will be remembered on Monday that Igboho visited the state on Sunday with a promise to flush out the killer-herders.

Seriki’s son, Suleiman Adamu, who revealed this to newsmen in Tuesday’s interview, said that one Alhaji Jiji had been burned to death while his father’s settlement had been destroyed.

He added that in the attack, over 40 cows were killed.

“Right now, there is tension everywhere. We managed to get our father to escape during the attacks.”There is tension everywhere right now. During the attacks, we managed to get our father to escape.

He said Edward Ajogun, the police commissioner, had visited the site and sued for peace. The Miyetti Allah State Chairman, Abdulmumin Ibrahim, also confirmed the development and claimed that the attacks were carried out by Igboho himself.

“He (Igboho) was also at Oja – Odan but one good Samaritan called Dende did not allow him to set ablaze houses at Oja Odan. A formal complaint has been made at Egua Police station,” Ibrahim said.
