Gunmen kill traditional ruler, burn over 50 houses

Following the beheading of two residents, Felix Okechukwu and Berechukwu Udemba, by unidentified gunmen, there is palpable fear in Okporo Orlu, Orlu LGA, Imo State.

Ejes Gist News gathered that the heads of the victims were cut off by the assailants and displayed at Orie Okporo market.

“They were killed in the early hours of Wednesday, and the bodies were displayed at Orie Okporo market,” an eyewitness said.

“The 70-year-old victim was a retired motor mechanic from Ududu in Orlu, while the other victim is a palm-wine tapper from Orlu’s Amanato-Okpuru community.”

According to reports, the assailants broke into their victims’ homes in the early hours of Wednesday and severed their heads.

As of the time of filing this report, the reason for their deaths had not been determined.

When contacted, Michael Abattam, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, said the command would look into the incident.
