Heavy Tension As IPOB’s ESN threatens Anambra community Over Sit-at-home Order

Following a threat of an attack by the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in response to alleged non-compliance with a sit-at-home order in Ukwulu, Dunukofia local area of Anambra State, tension has erupted in the community.

The ESN is a security organisation that is affiliated with the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB)

The warning was posted in the community in the wee hours of Sunday morning, with the group warning residents to be on the lookout for possible attacks for disobeying an IPOB order to leave their homes.

This is what the notice says: “Respect yourself, Ukwulu, about sitting at home, to avoid crying had I been aware.” Since then, we’ve been keeping an eye on you, and you’re disobeying us because Nigeria is no longer alive.

In the week beginning , continue to disobey us and expect to be held accountable. “The ESN is on its way to get you.”

However, Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu told The Nation that the command had deployed sufficient security to the area to avert any possible attack in the region.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Eworo, has dispatched a police reinforcement team to the Ukwulu community,” said Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in a statement.

Ikenga went on to say that the Command had focused its searchlights on the community and that the situation was being closely monitored by the Command.
