Everything You Should Know About Using Postinor 2 After Sex Zumi
Postinor 2 has become popular in Nigeria because many women take it as a contraceptive. Unfortunately, a lot of people are using this drug the wrong way.
It is an emergency contraceptive and should only be used once in a while. It should not be an excuse to have unsafe sex because it is not an alternative to condoms.
What is Postinor 2
It is a hormonal contraceptive commonly called ‘the morning after pill.” You should only use it for emergency contraception. It should not be used as a regular method of contraception. It prevents pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. This drug does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.
How to take Postinor 2
You should take one tablet as soon as possible after unprotected sex. The sooner you take it, the better it works. Take the second tablet exactly 12 hours after the first tablet.
Common side effects are tiredness, nausea and vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache, tender breasts, increased vaginal bleeding and skin reactions. It can also cause a delay in your next period or make it come earlier than usual.
Using it too frequently will make the drug less effective. If you use it more than once in a menstrual cycle, it can disrupt your cycle. Taking it when you’re already pregnant can cause you to have an ectopic pregnancy.
You can’t use the morning after pill to abort a pregnancy.
It is meant to be used in emergency cases.
If you need to use contraceptives often, then you should try a more permanent kind like IUDs or a proper birth control pill.
It is not an alternative to condoms.
