The assailants reportedly went straight to their bedroom and opened fire on the victims who were sleeping in their bed, killing them instantly before disappearing.

Gunshots were heard in the direction of the victims’ home around 4 a.m. on the fateful day, according to a community source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The attackers, however, had already killed the victims and escaped unnoticed before residents could reach them.

The victims, who were farmers who had migrated from Kabwir in Kanke local government area, were involved in yam farming.

According to another source, the suspected Fulani bandits committed the crime because of a feud between the late Talwa and some Fulani.

Hon. Sati Gobak, late Talwa’s younger brother, spoke to reporters and described his late elder brother as a man of peace who lived his life pursuing peaceful ventures.

“Well, I wouldn’t know exactly what prompted the attack,” Sati said, “but what I can say is that a week before his death, some Fulani broke into his yam barn and stole some yam but were caught red-handed and ordered to pay a fine by the Vigilante.” “Unfortunately, he was assassinated on the day the fine was due,” he explained.
