At around 8:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the university on the Kaduna-Abuja highway was targeted.
On Wednesday in Kaduna, the Command Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that some of the students had been kidnapped.
However, Mr. Jalige, an assistant superintendent of police, claimed that the exact number of students kidnapped was unknown.
Security personnel have been sent to the general area for a search and rescue operation, he said.
Greenfield University is a few kilometres from the Olam feed factory, which is about 30 kilometres from Kaduna city, on the Kaduna–Abuja Highway.
The incident was reported by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
