The NGF expressed its condolences to the governor and the people of Benue State in a statement released on Sunday.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, who is also the Chairman of the NGF, has denounced the act as a whole.

Fayemi said in a statement on behalf of the forum that all hands must be on deck to uncover the identities of those responsible for this heinous crime.

“The NGF wishes to state unequivocally that the effort to make Benue State ungovernable is unconstitutional and will fail miserably,” says the NGF.

“Only recently, the brother of one of the state’s former governors was brutally murdered.

This dishonourable and shameful act of resorting to violence to remove people of Benue State by barbaric means, for whatever cause, must not be allowed to continue.

“The NGF, as a forum for all 36 Governors, will continue to urge its members to remain steadfast in their service to their people, despite the sinister schemes of those who do not wish Nigeria well.

“Evil will not prevail over good in Benue or anywhere else in this country,” the statement said in part.

Although all governors will continue to pray for Governor Ortom, the NGF chairman added that all evildoers must be reminded that they will not only continue to fail in their wicked deeds, but they will also be tracked down and punished for their crimes, no matter how long it takes.

Governor Fayemi reiterated that the NGF prays for Governor Ortom and wishes him a long life, as the NGF continues to prioritize the protection of Governor Ortom and the citizens of Benue State.
