A gang of gunmen believed to be kidnappers has kidnapped Jephthah Robert, a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to the Daily Independent.
He was kidnapped around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday in front of his house on Dimrose Road in Yenagoa, according to reports.

Azibaola Robert, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zeetin Engineering Limited, is the victim’s older brother.
Though the details of Jephthah’s kidnapping were sketchy, the incident was confirmed by SP Asinim Butswat, the Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa State Command.
“He was picked up at Dimrose Road in Yenagoa,” Butswat said. We are stepping up our efforts to free him and apprehend his kidnappers.

“We’re working on a promising lead,” says the narrator.
As of the time of filing this report, no group had claimed responsibility for Jephthah’s kidnapping, and the motive for his kidnapping was unknown.
Jonathan’s cousin was kidnapped 24 hours after Federal Otokito, the state commissioner for industry, trade, and investment, was released by his kidnappers.
On January 20, Otokito was abducted from his home in Otuokpoti, a community in the state’s Ogbia Local Government Area.

The commissioner was held captive by his assailants for about five days before being released on Monday.
