Christopher Edoghogho, Nigerian Footballer Slumps and dies on the field in Edo State.
Christopher Edoghogho, a Nigerian footballer, is said to have collapsed and died during a football match in Benin City, Edo State.
On Thursday, June 2, 2022, the local footballer passed away.
Edoghogho was playing for Angels Football Academy in a Federation Cup match against BJ Foundation Football Club, according to multiple reports.
Edoghogho allegedly warmed up well for the game before collapsing on the field two minutes after kick-off.
To protest the alleged ‘attitude’ of medical workers, his colleagues blocked the main entrance of the Edo Specialist Hospital in Benin and the bustling Sapele Road.
The death of Christopher Edoghogho is explained.
Okiemute Ovie, one of his teammates, spoke to reporters about what led to his death.
According to Ovie, Edoghogho was playing at Edo State School of Health, Dumez Road, when he collapsed to the ground after heading the ball.
“The game started when Chris headed the ball to the center cycle,” Ovie remarked, “and it ended around two minutes later.”
“We all assumed it was one of the many falls that occur on the field. The referee signaled the medical crew, who hurried in and rushed him out while they were checking.”
“When we arrived at the hospital, we discovered our colleague’s lifeless body inside the ambulance.”
