Job Title: Food Security and Livelihood Manager

Location: Ogoja, Cross River


  • Cuso International, a Canadian advancement NGO, is carrying out a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) supported task in Cross River and Benue States called Livelihood Enhancement in refugee settlements and in Refugee Holding Communities in Cross River and Benue States – (B-LIVER) which intends to enhance incomes, boost earnings generation and self-reliance through sustainable business advancement for Cameroonian refugees and host neighborhood members in Cross River and Benue States.

Job Summary

  • The Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Manager is accountable for preparation and carrying out the food security and livelihood program in adherence with Cuso International and donor standards.
  • The FSL Manager will report to the Team Leader while working carefully with the Finance and Admin. Manager on admin associated problems. Job Function
General Responsibilities:

Technical Skills:

  • Initiate market based/ farming worth chain intervention technique by connecting farmer/pastoralist groups to economic sector market chances;
  • Implement and assistance sustainable farming and livelihood tasks execution in task neighborhoods;
  • Plan and carry out food security and livelihood activities such as: establishing of farmer field schools, establishing of farm production centers and money based interventions;

  • Ensure that females are associated with task execution and as recipients in food security/farming trainings and are provided technical assistance;

  • Coordinate with other Cuso International Units (programs ) and assistance departments (admin and financing, personnels) to make sure a smooth program execution both in Cross River and Benue States.

Documentation Of Best Practices:

Monitoring And Reporting:;

  • Provide instructions and continuous assistance and assistance to international volunteers for reliable arrangement of technical support.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Agriculture / Agriculture Extension Education/ Animal Production, Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, International Development, Rural Development, Agric Economics and/or other pertinent discipline is compulsory;
  • At least 7 years’ pertinent task management experience connecting to either agribusiness, little and medium-sized business (SME) advancement or offering training and company advisory services;
  • Experience with or understanding of innovation and input supply environment in Nigeria;
  • Demonstrated capability to establish and present task management systems to assist in timeliness of shipment, expense efficiency and compliance;
  • Strong monetary analysis (e.g., budget plan management) and task management abilities;
  • Track record of structure and handling strong group and stakeholder relationships with personal, public sector and federal government;
  • Extensive understanding of advancement problems and understanding of the Food Security, Entrepreneurship advancement, farming and Livelihood problems;
  • Experience in establishing farmer field schools, agribusiness hubs/settlements and market advancement programing and processing focuses;
  • Previous experience of operating in an emergency situation action concentrating on food security and incomes;
  • Experience carrying out donor (e.g. UNHCR, ECHO, DFID, WFP) financed programs;
  • Solid social abilities, especially in networking, dealing with neighborhoods, local civil society and local authorities;

  • Experience assisting in workshops and several stakeholder conferences;
