FIFA has slapped hefty fines on Nigeria.
FIFA, the world soccer governing body, has fined Nigeria 150,000 Swiss Francs (about 154,128.75 USD) for fans’ rowdy behaviour following the conclusion of the second leg Qatar 2022 World Cup play-off between the Super Eagles and Ghana’s Black Stars on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
There were reports of law and order violations following the ill-fated 1-1 tie in which the Black Stars eliminated Nigeria from the Qatar 2022 campaign via the away goals rule.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee condemned the match’s poor organisation for a lack of order and security, citing ‘failure to enforce current safety standards and inability to ensure that law and order be maintained in the stadium, invasion of the field of play, and object throwing’.
Apart from the 150,000 Swiss franc punishment, Nigeria’s next home match would be played without fans.
