The planned removal of the fuel subsidy has been put on hold by the federal government until further notice.
Following a recommendation from the National Economic Council, the government planned to stop subsidizing petroleum products in July of this year.
This was revealed by Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance, budget, and national planning, during a meeting at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The meeting was called at the request of Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who was joined by Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director of NNPC Limited.
