FG Declares Tuesday 2021  for Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration

Federal Government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.

To commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration in honour of the birth of the  Prophet Muhammad, the Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021, a public holiday.

On behalf of the Federal Government, Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola congratulated all Muslim faithful at home and abroad for witnessing this year’s event.


He urged all Nigerians to “imbibe the spirit of love, patience, and perseverance, which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad,” saying that this would ensure the country’s peace and security.

This was revealed in a statement signed by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, on Friday.

“Ogbeni Aregbesola enjoined Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness, and other acts of criminality,” the statement reads. We must demonstrate responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race.

“While calling for an end to all divisive tendencies across the country, the Minister urges all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to embrace the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition toward fellow humans, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity, and to cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in its efforts to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens can be proud of.”
