After the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, August 3, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, responded to the attack by saying that criminals carry out such “spectacular attacks merely to make a psychological point.”
“With regard to the attack on the AIG in Bauchi, I require more information from the IG regarding the attack’s specifics.
“However, I am aware that thieves would always aim to launch such a spectacular assault in order to gain psychological advantage.
“However, I am aware of how seriously the administration is treating the issue of security. As you can see, the honorable minister of the FCT has already given you a detailed account of the steps he is doing to provide increased security.
I’ve observed over the past few days that the FCT police command has also distributed phone numbers to call in the event of any security breach or information.
Lai Mohammed added that even while the military has made strides in the war against terrorism, the media has not given it much attention.
“I am aware that the military has had some success in recent days in driving out the bandits in and around Abuja.
Unfortunately, it seems that when the military is in control, they do not receive the same level of media attention as when bandits launch an attack.
