FCCPC Reacts As ABU Sacks 15 Staff, Demotes one Academic Staff.

Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC has commended the Termination of the Employment of fifteen Staff and demotion of one Academic Staff of Ahmadu Bello University.

According to a press release, sighted by EJES GIST, the Commission, commended the action of the institutions and urged other Institutions to emulate the bold steps of ABU.

The Federal competition and consumer protection commission, FCCPC, welcomes the bold and decisive actions of Ahmed Bello University, ABU, authorities, terminating, employment of 15 staff and Demotion of one Academic staff on account of conduct bordering on corruption and sexual harassment.

The commission notes that this strong disciplinary action following an investigation that establishes unsolicited and unwelcome sexual advances and behaviour towards members of the school community, illegal allocation of marks, alteration of grades including extortion of students.

The inappropriate behaviour undermines the quality and validity of education and questions the credibility of the educational outcome.

The commissioner is further encouraged by ABU commitment to a broader and continuing investigation of others within the community,

in addition, the Commission commends ABU you, for this robust and far-reaching effort and the confidence it restores and promotes in our institution systems and process.

A transparent, fair and just educational community is vital for all members of the community especially students and commission are keen to ensure that students as a consumer are afforded the necessary protections and our campuses are saved and secured always.
