The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says security at the country’s airports has been increased in preparation for the holiday, Ejes Gist Newspaper Reports.

FAAN’s acting General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mrs Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, stated this in a statement released on Saturday in Lagos.

“Security has been ramped up at the airports as part of our preparations to ensure flawless facilitation of our highly respected passengers during the celebrations and beyond,” Hope-ivbaze said.

” In addition, our airports‘ facilities have been renovated and are now operating at peak efficiency.

“All other logistics have also been updated and fortified to accommodate the predicted increase in passenger flow in and around our airports.”

“Travelers are encouraged to check for directional signage at airports for information, as well as to follow all safety and security procedures,” she said.

During the sallah celebrations, the FAAN spokesperson assured travelers and airport users of complete safety and security at the country’s airports.

She recommended the general public and aspiring travelers to start planning ahead of time in order to complete their trip needs on time.

Security personnel and airport officials were barred from receiving dignitaries in restricted areas, according to Hope-Ivbase, and anyone found wanting would be prohibited.

Eid al-Fitr, (Arabic: “Festival of Breaking Fast”) also spelled ʿĪd al-Fiṭr, also called al-ʿĪd al-Ṣaghīr, Turkish Ramazan Bayrami (“Ramadan Festival”), first of two canonical festivals of Islam.

Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar (though the Muslim use of a lunar calendar means that it may fall in any season of the year).
