There are two factions of the PDP in the state of Edo, one led by Obaseki and the other by vice chairman of the party at the national level Orbih (South South)

The candidates created by the Chief Dan Orbih-led faction of the Edo state PDP in the primary held in May have been recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This suggests that the opposite faction, represented by Governor Godwin Obaseki, lost the conflict over the PDP’s organisational structure in the south-south state.
