Delta PDP gov aspirant, David Edevbie congratulates Sheriff Oborevwori over verdict
In the struggle over the State PDP governorship candidacy, Chief David Edevbie, a chieftain of the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party who took Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to the Supreme Court has finally congratulated Oborevwori on his victory at the top court, saying that “the Supreme Court’s judgement has put a full and final closure to the dispute.”
Edevbie advised Deltans to prioritise the state’s interests above all other interests.
This was said in a statement sent by Fred Edoreh, Director of Strategic Communications for Edevbie, and copies of it were provided to journalists on Friday night.
Edevbie wished Oborevwori success in the governorship race in 2023 while expressing gratitude to his fans for their fervent support of his cause.
The message reads, “For Staying The Course… Thank You.” Read in part, “The Supreme Court’s decision today putting an end to the process of choosing the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the governor of Delta State in 2023.
Without a question, it has been a protracted battle during which some beloved relationships have suffered.
“As Democrats, we accept the result as final, despite the fact that it was not the result we hoped for or prayed for.
I recognize your disappointment, all of our party’s supporters and stakeholders, especially the young people and the decent citizens of Delta State in general who stood with us in our pursuit of the chance to create a new state.
As Senator Edward Kennedy once said, “the dream lives on,” I want to express my sincere gratitude while also saying that.
“Regardless of the result, we should all be proud and hold our heads high, knowing that we gave it our all. Without a doubt, history will look favourably upon us.
“At this point, I would like to congratulate Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, the PDP’s candidate for governor of Delta State, and wish him well in the general elections in 2023.
The future of this state is far more important than anyone’s personal bias or interest, and I encourage us all to keep working for the welfare of every citizen of this commonwealth.
Thank you once more for your prayers, good wishes, and encouragement.
Godspeed to everyone. God bless Delta State, too.
