On Thursday, July 29, a tragic tragedy occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of the community’s new executive committee.
According to reports, Ighoshemusua, 50, died tragically soon after formally turning over the leadership baton to his successor at a ceremony held at the community’s secondary school.
The vigilante member began shooting in the air in jubilation while the deceased was taking a group portrait with the new executives. He attempted to repair the pump-action gun after it had stopped working at some time.
The pistol detonated in the direction of the outgoing President General’s chest while being repaired, killing him instantly.
The vigilante member
The crowd was enraged by the abrupt death and swooped on the gun-wielding vigilante member, clubbing him to death.
“Ighoshemusua’s term as President General of the community has come to an end, and he has turned over to his successor smoothly. While the party was going on, the departing PG returned to his home. After some time had passed, it was discovered that the man had vanished, so they summoned him to pose for a group photograph,” a community insider told journalists.
Mr Ari Muhammed Ali, the State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident, telling journalists that the vigilante member shot the community leader inadvertently after failing to shoot into the air to give colour to the ritual.
“As the group image was being taken, the vigilante member began shooting in the air in joy.” His pump-action gun did not respond at one time while he was shooting, according to the CP.
“As he was attempting to repair the rifle, it detonated in the direction of the outgoing President General’s chest, killing him instantly.” When the vigilante realised what had happened, he jumped on his motorcycle and rode to the police station to report the incident, but he was pursued by irate youngsters who stopped him at the railway line. He was returned to the neighbourhood and beaten to death,” he added.
