Meanwhile, in the face of persistent forex scarcity, Nigerian banks have advised customers who want to buy foreign currency to submit their applications 30 days in advance.

This comes after many students and businesspeople complained about the long wait for forex despite satisfying all of the prerequisites.

Access Bank claims it will need a 30-day interval to fulfill demands for school tuition, upkeep, and rent payment, according to a letter viewed by Ripples Nigeria.

Requests for Personal Travel Allowance (PTA) and Business Travel Allowance (BTA) will require 14 days, according to the statement.

“In keeping with our commitment to providing you with the greatest banking experience possible,” the letter says.

“We are glad to give the following critical changes on your Forex requirements for foreign school tuition, upkeep payments, and PTA/ETA requests.”

“All requests are thoroughly examined to verify that they comply with regulatory standards.”

“In addition, due to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s limited FX availability, we demand a 30-day interval to fulfill requests for school fees, upkeep, and rent payment.”

“However, for PTA/BTA, we ask that you submit your application 14 days prior to your anticipated travel date to ensure that funds are disbursed on time.”

The Access Bank letter also included instructions on the papers needed to complete the currency request.
