Meanwhile, Due to investors’ preference for the shares of his market rival, Dangote Cement, which is owned by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, the stock market did not close on Thursday in favor of businessman Abdulsamad Rabiu and his company, BUA Cement.

According to the Forbes Billionaire Index, Rabiu’s net worth dropped to $6.7 billion after losing over N13.48 billion ($32 million), or -0.48 percent of his wealth, after trading hours.

Ejes Gist Newspaper is aware that the loss was caused by pessimistic shareholders who owned shares of BUA Cement. To get their investment back, they engaged in a sell-off, reflecting the decreasing confidence of shareholders in the company’s expansion.

In contrast to the 0.55 percent growth the Nigerian stock market experienced on Thursday , analysis of BUA Cement’s performance reveals that the share fell by -3.16 percent. Investors left the company at a lower share price of N71.9, significantly less than the N74.25kobo it began trading at.

The decline in Rabiu’s company comes after a weak showing on the stock market, where BUA Cement’s share price has remained unchanged for more than a month at N74.25kobo, reflecting investors’ lack of interest in the company as an investment.

BUA Cement sold shares at one point during trading for as little as N66.85kobo before the day’s trading ended at N71.9kobo. The decline reduced the company’s market capitalization by N79.58 billion, bringing it down from the previous day’s N2.51 trillion to a record-low N2.43 trillion.

Investors purchased Dangote Cement shares as BUA Cement shareholders sold their shares on the exchange floor, increasing the value of the shares owned by BUA Cement shareholders by 1.85%.

The cost of the share increased from N270 to N275 due to the increase in demand. As a result, Dangote Cement’s market value increased from N4.60 trillion to N4.68 trillion. This represented an increase of N85.20 billion over what BUA Cement lost.

Dangote’s net worth increased to N14.1 billion following the share appreciation, up N74.15 billion ($176 million) after trading.
