INEC silent on PDP guber candidate
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC’s decision to withhold information on the Peoples Democratic Party PDP’s Governorship candidate may have put the party on the verge of losing Delta state if urgent action is not taken to fix its internal problem.

Sheriff Oborevwori, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, reportedly won the PDP governorship primary on May 25. However, Oborevwori’s closest rival, David Edevbie, a former Chief of Staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, filed a petition with the Abuja High Court asking for Oborevwori’s disqualification due to inconsistencies in the certificates he presented.
Since then, there have been significant legal maneuvers around who the party’s candidate is.

On Friday night, word spread that the electoral umpire had decided against releasing any information about the candidates.
A source claimed that the commission had decided to hold off until a court decision had been made.
