The chairmanship primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, was contested between Barr. Innocent Ejedegba and Chief Mrs Lizzy Djebah Unurhoro on the 30th day of December 2020 across the different wards in the local government in a peaceful atmosphere.
Conducting the primaries, party members trooped out to cast their votes in the twenty DSIEC wards.
Declaring the results, the returning officer for Ughelli South L.G.A. Mr Nick Avuakporie declared Barr. Innocent Ejedegba as the winner of the election having pulled the highest number of the total votes cast. Addressing newsmen at Otu-Jeremi, the Local Government Area Headquarter on his victory in the primary election, Barr. Innocent Ejedegba thanked APC members in Ughelli South for voting for him en masse and vowed to win the March 6th local government election. Both members and non-members of the party were in full jubilation and celebration as they express their happiness at the victory of Barr. Innocent Ejedegba.
Reacting to the victory, One of the party members who spoke to Journalists, Mr Simon Nyore Yovwire stated that Barr. Innocent Ejedegba is a popular candidate, and he is the one who can lead the party to victory in the forthcoming local government election.
In a telephone chat with the APC Local Government Area chairman, Mr Collins Umukoro expressed confidence on the victory of Barr innocent Ejedegba emergence as the party candidate is very good for the party and Ughelli South in general because he is a party loyalist and grassroots politician and he appreciated all party faithful for voting for their choice, he, however, commended Elders and Leaders of the APC Ughelli South Local Government Area Delta for their efforts for the peaceful election.
