Alhaji Dauda Lawal, Candidate Sacked By Court Wins Fresh PDP Guber Primary In Zamfara

Alhaji Dauda Lawal Dare was proclaimed the victor of the rerun of the governorship primary election in Zamfara state by the Peoples Democratic Party on Friday, Ejes Gist Newspaper reports.

After a court invalidated the primary election that had chosen him as the party’s nominee for the upcoming general election, a new governorship primary election was held.

431 delegates to the convention came to Gusau, the state capital, from 147 wards in the state’s 14 local government units.

Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau and Hafiz Nahuche each received one vote, and the head of the election commission, Senator Hassan Felix Hayat, pronounced him the winner after counting 422 votes to defeat them.

Alhaji Ibrahim Shehu Gusau’s agent and his supporters swarmed out of the convention venue. Gusau is a former federal lawmaker.

Alhaji Wadatau Madawaki, an earlier candidate, resigned in favour of Dare and pledged to support the latter’s bid for the position in order to unseat the All Progressive Congress, which is now in power in the state.

The delegates were thanked by the state party leader, Dr. Ahmad Sani Kaura.
