Cute Abiola Released, To Face Punishment


The Nigerian Navy had released comedian Abdulgafar Ahmad, also known as Cute Abiola, from detention.

Commodore Suleman Dahun, a spokesperson for the Navy, confirmed the release of the skit maker, on Friday.

was reported missing on Monday, November 15, 2021, by his colleague Debo Adedayo aka Mr Macaroni.

The comedian, who is also a naval officer, went missing on that day, according to Abiola’s wife, after reporting to his office in Navy Town, Lagos.

However, reports of Abiola’s disappearance were quickly debunked by a Navy statement announcing that he had been detained for violating military regulations.

According to Dahun, Abiola violated the armed forces’ social media policy by posting a video of himself in military uniform on the internet.

When he was summoned to the office to explain himself, the comedian also failed to show up.

Ahmad knowingly violated the armed forces’ social media policy, according to Dahun, but when he was tried for misconduct and indiscipline, he received a light punishment of “one-month extra duty.”

He also revealed that Abiola has been released from naval detention to serve his sentence.
