Rampaging cultists operating within Awai community, and Asaba in Delta state in the early hours of Friday killed a 300 level student, Jeff Nduka, of Awai campus of Delta state University (DELSU).

In the past six months, Asaba, and Awai communities have been in war zones for various cult activities, especially clashes between Vikings and Eiye confraternities, But the police spokesman in the state, DSP,Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, said ” it is shocking, efforts are ongoing to arrest all members of the cult group linked to the killing of the student, we have not made any arrest, we will surely bring to book those involved ”

Sources alleged that Jeff was an active member of the Viking confraternity who unfortunately was locked in the web of rivalry with Eyie confraternity: and in a supremacy war, he was allegedly cut down.

It was gathered that the victim was with his friends, and after having a good time on Thursday night was racing home in the early hours when he met his waterloo few meters to his house.

Eyewitness, Jane Samuel said the cultists pursued him to the very spot close his house and shot him several times, but their bullets failed; they allegedly used battle axes to tear his head open, and he gave up the ghost on the spot.

DSP Aniamaka, speaking further disclosed that the corpse of the student had been deposited at the Federal Medical Center (FMC,Asaba) for further investigation, and called on parents to always warn their children/wards against involvement in cult activities, adding that anyone caught will not be spared, but will face the wrath of the law
