Court slams 15 years imprisonment on Mutiu Ogundare, dethroned Baale of Shangisha

Ejes Gist Newspaper reports that On Tuesday, an Ikeja High Court condemned Mutiu Ogundare, a deposed Baale of Shangisha in Lagos’ Magodo neighbourhood, to 15 years in prison for staging his own kidnapping.

Following his conviction on a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and fake kidnapping, Justice Hakeem Oshodi handed down Ogundare’s sentence.

Opeyemi Mohammed, the brother of the former Bale, received the same prison sentence.

The court released his wife Abolanle after previously clearing her of the accusations.

The defendants allegedly committed the offence on July 5, 2017, according to the prosecution.

According to the prosecution, Ogundare offered to be kidnapped in order to disturb the tranquilly of the community, and both his brother and wife participated in the crime.
