BREAKING: Court Remands Former AGF, Ahmed Idris In Prison

The suspended Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, and others were remanded in the Kuje Correctional Service by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.

Idris’ attorney, Uche SAN, asked the court for bail prior to the decision, stressing the dreadful circumstances and threat surrounding Kuje Prison.

Idris had been out on administrative bail, he added.

However, Rotimi Jacob SAN, an attorney for the EFCC, argued that the public and media would interpret it incorrectly.

The sitting judge determined that the court would follow due procedure rather than sway to popular opinion.

They are held in prison custody until this (a bail application) case is heard in the interest of justice.

They had previously been charged with 14 counts of criminal breach of trust totaling N109,485,572,691.

The case will now be heard on July 27 by the court.
