Civil Servant Rewarded With Car After He Returned N53m Mistakenly Paid To Him


A civil servant working with the Delta State Ministry of Finance, Comrade Benson Efeotor, returned an extra of N53 million erroneously paid him as wage, and he was rewarded for his honesty.

He was gifted with a Brand New GAC Car Courtesy of the Delta State Government.

Comrade Efeotor returned to the state authorities, the sum of fifty three million, 100 and twenty one thousand, 600 and fifty naira erroneously paid into his Zenith Bank account not too long ago.

Comrade Efeotor, who doubles because the Delta State Chairman of the Nigerian Civil Servants Union, spoke on the 2019 May Celebration held in Asaba.

Comrade Efeotor mentioned, “I returned the money because I don’t have such money in my bank account.”

He mentioned when he noticed the cash in his again account; he knowledgeable the related authorities officers, who gave him the suitable authorities account to pay the cash again into.

While noting that he has not been appreciated for returning the cash, Comrade Edeotor who’s an Okpara-Inland Community in Ethiope-East Local Government Area mentioned, “I have satisfied my conscience and I am okay with that.”

He mentioned anybody who will say he was improper for returning the cash to the federal government is a “thief.”

“You don’t collect what does not belong to you. I am working for my salary. If I collect the money, that’s criminal.”

Reacting to the event, the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa mentioned he has rewarded Comrade Benson Efeotor with a GS three saloon automotive for the present of fine instance.

He mentioned, “That’s the Nigerian employee that we should acknowledge. Such individual will lead the Union aright.
