Chris Rock Slapped at Oscars by Will Smith
After being slapped in the face by Will Smith at the Oscars on Sunday, comedian Chris Rock reportedly declined to file a police report.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Rock, 57, has refused to submit a police report.
After the performance finished Sunday, the LAPD reported in a news statement that “LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards programme.”
‘During the incident, one person slapped another.’ The person who was involved in the incident has declined to submit a police report. The LAPD will be available to finish an investigative report if the involved party requests one at a later time.’
Should Rock change his mind, Smith, 53, may still face a misdemeanour battery charge.
The slapping occurred after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s 50-year-old alopecia and her ‘GI Jane’ hairdo. Both the live crowd at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles and television viewers were astonished by the horrifying event, which was carried live around the world.

Later on stage, Smith slapped Rock across the face with an open right hand, causing Rock to stagger and shout, “Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me!”
‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth,’ Smith said as he walked back to his seat.
‘Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2,’ Rock remarked, referring to Pinkett Smith’s buzzcut, leading the actress to roll her eyes. Since revealing her alopecia diagnosis in 2018, Pinkett Smith has been battling hair loss.
Rock appeared stunned after being hit, but went on to deliver the best documentary feature category.
‘That was the greatest night in television history,’ Rock remarked before uncomfortably reading the Oscar nominees, which included Questlove’s ‘Summer of Soul (…or When the Revolution Was Not Televised),’ which won the award.
