Real Madrid vs Chelsea ‘most likely’ Round of 16 tie

Chelsea have a nearly one-in-three chance of drawing Real Madrid in Monday’s Champions League Round of 16 draw, according to MisterChip.

Following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Zenit, the Blues, the current holders of the trophy, could only finish second in their group.

Manchester United and Manchester City, who finished first and second in their respective groups, have a slightly better chance of facing Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan in the next round.

The eight group winners will be seeded in the draw: Ajax, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Liverpool, Lille, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

Atletico Madrid, Benfica, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Red Bull Salzburg, Sporting Lisbon, and Villarreal will be paired with one of the unseeded group runners-up.

At this stage of the competition, teams from the same country are not allowed to play each other, which is why Chelsea will not be pitted against Liverpool or the two Manchester clubs.
