CAN Denies Backing Shettima’s VP Candidacy

Bishop Naga Mohammed, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Borno State, has denied granting interview to any journalist regarding the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as running mate to All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a Statement released on Monday night, He made this known to Newsmen.

According to him, the interview in question was given to a few journalists on April 3, 2017, while Senator Kashim Shettima was the governor of the state, and it is this one that has dominated social and traditional media.

“I granted no interview to anybody on Monday 11th July 2022. According to Bishop Naga, it was malicious propaganda intended to gain quick fame by using my persona.

He expressed surprise that a journalist would use such an interview without permission and claim that it was authorized on Monday.

Bishop Naga said that he had invited the national organization to attend a meeting of all the CAN representatives in the state that would be held on Tuesday, following which CAN would explain its view on the situation.
