Burna Boy, a Nigerian superstar, won a Grammy Award 2021 for ‘Best Global Music Album’ today, March 14, 2021.

Burna Boy defeated Antibalas in the Fu Chronicles competition, Bebe Gilberto in the Agora competition, Anousha Shankar in the Love Letters competition, and Tinariwen in the Amadjar competition.

Burna Boy’s African Giant lost the category to Anqelique Kidjo’s reimagining of Celia Cruz’s music on the eponymous Celia earlier in 2020. Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall was inspired by some of those moments.

On the first track of his new album, ‘Twice As Tall,’ Burna Boy discussed some of this.

The Recording Academy announced a few weeks ago that the category formerly known as “Best World Music Album” would be renamed “Best Global Music Album.”

When the category was known as ‘Best World Music Album,’ Burna Boy lost to Kidjo.
