President Buhari to Jet out of Nigeria for Two Weeks Medical Check-Up In London
President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to leave Abuja on Tuesday for Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP@50), which will take place on the 3rd and 4th of March 2022 in Nairobi.

He will travel to the United Kingdom for a two-week medical checkup after the East African event.
His visit to Nairobi is in response to an invitation from Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The theme of the Special Session, according to Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), is “Strengthening UNEP For The Implementation Of The Environmental Dimension Of The 2030 Agenda For Sustainable Development.”
“For 50 years, UNEP has coordinated a worldwide effort with Member States to address the world’s biggest environmental challenges,” the statement said, citing the event’s organisers. Member States play an important role in forming UNEP policy, implementing UNEP programmes, and championing solutions to our common environmental problems. [email protected] is an opportunity to look back and look forward. It offers a chance to re-energize international cooperation and mobilise collective action to address the triple planetary crisis of climate change, loss of nature and biodiversity, and pollution and waste. These global crises cannot be solved by any single country or continent. However, each country has a critical role to play in safeguarding our people and the environment.”
At the event, President Buhari is expected to deliver the country’s National Statement and take part in High-Level Dialogue Sessions on the Environment, according to the statement.

He will be accompanied by Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharon Ikeazor, National Security Adviser Maj.Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd), Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
President Buhari will travel to London for routine medical checks, which will last for two weeks, according to the statement.
